# Troubleshooting Common Issues on Big Brain Ape Platform

> Fix common problems on Big Brain Ape: wallet connection errors, failed transactions, missing portfolio data, alert delivery issues, and API errors.

This page walks you through solutions for the most common issues you may encounter while using Big Brain Ape, including wallet connection failures, failed swaps, missing portfolio data, alert delivery problems, and API errors. If the steps here don't resolve your issue, our support team is ready to help — reach out at [support@bigbrainape.com](mailto:support@bigbrainape.com).

## Wallet Issues

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My wallet won't connect">
    If your wallet fails to connect to Big Brain Ape, work through the following steps in order:

    1. **Refresh the page** and try connecting again.
    2. **Unlock your wallet** — make sure your wallet extension is open and your account is unlocked before attempting to connect.
    3. **Clear your browser cache** — stale data can interrupt the connection handshake. After clearing, reload the page and retry.
    4. **Try a different browser** — some browser extensions conflict with wallet injections. Chrome and Brave have the broadest wallet support.
    5. **Check the network** — make sure your wallet is set to a network supported by Big Brain Ape (Solana Mainnet, Ethereum Mainnet, Base, or Arbitrum One).

    <Tip>
      If you are using multiple wallet extensions at the same time (for example, MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet), try disabling the ones you are not using to prevent conflicts.
    </Tip>
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Wrong network error">
    This error appears when your connected wallet is set to a network that does not match the trading pair or feature you are trying to use.

    To fix it, open your wallet extension and switch to the correct network:

    * **Solana trades** → switch to **Solana Mainnet**
    * **Ethereum trades** → switch to **Ethereum Mainnet**
    * **Base trades** → switch to **Base Mainnet**
    * **Arbitrum trades** → switch to **Arbitrum One**

    After switching networks, refresh the page. Big Brain Ape will detect the updated network automatically.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Transaction rejected">
    A rejected transaction usually has one of two causes:

    * **You cancelled in your wallet** — if you clicked Reject or closed the wallet prompt, the transaction was not submitted. Retry the trade and click **Confirm** in your wallet when prompted.
    * **Insufficient funds for gas** — you need enough of the network's native token (ETH for Ethereum/Base/Arbitrum, SOL for Solana) to pay the gas fee, even if you are trading a different token. Add funds to cover gas and try again.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Trading Issues

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Transaction failed">
    A transaction that was submitted but failed on-chain is most often caused by one of the following:

    * **Slippage tolerance too low** — the price moved beyond your tolerance before confirmation. Open trade settings and increase slippage to **1–2%**, then resubmit.
    * **Insufficient gas** — the transaction ran out of gas mid-execution. Ensure your wallet has enough ETH or SOL to cover gas costs.
    * **Token liquidity too low** — the token you are trying to swap has insufficient on-chain liquidity to fill your order at the quoted price. Try reducing the trade size or waiting for liquidity to improve.

    <Warning>
      Network gas fees are still charged for failed transactions because the network processed the transaction attempt. Big Brain Ape's 0.25% platform fee is only charged on successful swaps.
    </Warning>
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Swap quote expired">
    Price quotes on Big Brain Ape are valid for **30 seconds**. If you take longer than 30 seconds to confirm a swap, the quote expires to protect you from trading on a stale price.

    When you see the "Quote Expired" message, click **Refresh Quote** to fetch a current price and resubmit the trade.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Price impact too high">
    Big Brain Ape shows a price impact warning when your trade would move the token's market price by more than **2%**. A high price impact means your trade is large relative to the available liquidity, and you may receive a significantly worse price than expected.

    To reduce price impact, try one of the following:

    * **Split the trade** — break it into several smaller transactions executed over time.
    * **Use a limit order** — set a target price and let the order fill when liquidity is available at your preferred rate.
    * **Wait for more liquidity** — liquidity levels fluctuate; the impact may be lower at a different time.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Portfolio Issues

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My portfolio balance is wrong">
    If the balance shown in your portfolio does not match your wallet, follow these steps:

    1. Click the **Refresh** button in the Portfolio tab to force a data sync.
    2. If the balance is still incorrect, **disconnect your wallet** and reconnect it.
    3. Allow up to **5 minutes** for on-chain data to fully sync after reconnecting.

    <Note>
      Balance discrepancies can occur during periods of high network congestion. If your balance remains incorrect after 5 minutes, contact support with your wallet address and the network in question.
    </Note>
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My trade history is missing a trade">
    After a trade is confirmed on-chain, it can take up to **2 minutes** for it to appear in your trade history on Big Brain Ape. If the trade is still missing after that window:

    * Make sure the correct **network filter** is selected in the Trade History panel — trades on Arbitrum will not appear if you have the filter set to Ethereum, for example.
    * Check your wallet's transaction history directly on the relevant block explorer to confirm the trade was successful on-chain.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Alert Issues

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I'm not receiving alert notifications">
    If your alerts are not reaching you, check the following for each notification channel:

    **In-app / browser push:**

    * Open your browser's notification settings and confirm that notifications from `app.bigbrainape.com` are set to **Allow**.

    **Email:**

    * Verify that the email address in your account settings is correct.
    * Check your spam or junk folder — alert emails can be filtered by some email providers.

    **Telegram:**

    * Open Telegram, search for **@BigBrainApeBot**, and send `/start` to activate the bot.
    * Then link your Telegram account in Big Brain Ape's notification settings if you haven't already.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Alert triggered but no notification received">
    If an alert shows as triggered in your dashboard but you didn't receive a notification:

    * **Email** — check your spam or junk folder. Add `alerts@bigbrainape.com` to your contacts to prevent future filtering.
    * **Telegram** — make sure you have not blocked @BigBrainApeBot. Open the bot in Telegram and confirm messages are not muted.
    * **Browser push** — confirm your browser is not in Do Not Disturb mode, which suppresses push notifications system-wide.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## API Issues

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="401 Unauthorized">
    A `401 Unauthorized` response means the API could not authenticate your request. Check the following:

    * Your API key is valid and has not been revoked. You can verify this in **Settings → API Keys**.
    * The `Authorization` header is formatted correctly:

    ```http theme={null}
    Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
    ```

    * You are sending the header with every request — it is required on all authenticated endpoints.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="429 Too Many Requests">
    A `429 Too Many Requests` response means you have exceeded the rate limit for your plan. When you receive this error:

    1. **Stop sending requests** and wait for the retry window specified in the `Retry-After` response header.
    2. Implement **exponential backoff** in your client to avoid hitting the limit repeatedly.
    3. If you consistently need higher throughput, consider **upgrading to the Pro plan**, which includes higher rate limits.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="503 Service Unavailable">
    A `503 Service Unavailable` response indicates a temporary issue with the Big Brain Ape API infrastructure. Check the [Big Brain Ape Status Page](https://status.bigbrainape.com) to see whether there is an active incident or scheduled maintenance.

    If no incident is reported but you are still receiving `503` errors, wait a few minutes and retry. If the problem persists, contact support with the affected endpoint, your request details, and the timestamp of the errors.
  </Accordion>
