# Big Brain Ape Account Setup: Security and Preferences

> Configure your Big Brain Ape account: verify your email, enable two-factor authentication, set your preferences, and manage your profile.

A properly configured account keeps your assets secure and makes sure Big Brain Ape behaves exactly the way you expect — right currency, right timezone, right notifications. This guide walks you through every setup step from the moment your account is created.

## Setup steps

  <Step title="Verify your email">
    After signing up, Big Brain Ape sends a verification email to the address you registered with. Open the email and click **Verify Email Address** to activate your account.

    If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. You can also request a new verification link from the login page by clicking **Resend verification email**.

      You won't be able to withdraw funds or access full platform features until your email address is verified.

  <Step title="Complete your profile">
    Navigate to **Settings → Profile** and fill in the following:

    * **Username** — Choose a unique display name. This appears in the referral program and public leaderboards.
    * **Timezone** — Set your local timezone so that chart timestamps, alert times, and trade history all display correctly.
    * **Preferred currency** — Select the fiat currency (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.) used to display portfolio values and P\&L across the platform.

    Click **Save Changes** when you're done.

  <Step title="Enable two-factor authentication">
    Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a critical second layer of security to your account. Go to **Settings → Security** and click **Enable 2FA**.

    Big Brain Ape supports both authenticator apps (Google Authenticator, Authy) and hardware security keys. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, enter the six-digit code to confirm setup, and store your backup codes somewhere safe.

  <Step title="Set notification preferences">
    Go to **Settings → Notifications** to choose how and when Big Brain Ape contacts you. You can enable or disable notifications for:

    * Price and volume alert triggers
    * Trade execution confirmations
    * Deposit and withdrawal activity
    * Security events (new login, password change, 2FA update)
    * Platform announcements and product updates

    For each category, select your preferred delivery channels: **email**, **SMS**, or **push notification** (requires the mobile app).

## Account settings reference

After completing the initial setup, you can fine-tune the following settings at any time under **Settings → Preferences**:

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| **Display currency** | The fiat currency used to denominate all portfolio values, P\&L figures, and price displays across the platform. |
| **Default network** | The blockchain network pre-selected when you open the Trade or Wallet pages. Set this to your most-used chain to save time. |
| **Language** | The interface language for menus, labels, and system messages. Currently supported: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Mandarin. |

  Keep your email address and 2FA method up to date. If you ever lose access to your account, Big Brain Ape uses both to verify your identity during the recovery process. Outdated contact details can make recovery difficult or impossible.
